Evangelos Marinakis won’t hesitate to sack Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo if he believes he’s not the right fit for the job.
In the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke disclosed that Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is “very ambitious,” following reports concerning the future of manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
The Portuguese manager joined the club on a contract until 2026 last December, succeeding Steve Cooper. Nuno successfully led Forest to Premier League safety, even after the club faced a four-point deduction for breaching spending rules.
O’Rourke mentioned there has been speculation about Marco Silva potentially replacing the 50-year-old at the City Ground, given Silva’s impressive work at Fulham in recent seasons.
Despite fending off relegation, Nuno Espirito Santo could still leave Nottingham Forest. Some Forest fans have criticized his defensive style of play since he took charge. However, under his management, the team scored 32 of their 49 Premier League goals last season in 21 league games, ensuring their place in the top flight for another season.
Nonetheless, speculation about his future at the City Ground persists. O’Rourke noted that it is unlikely Silva would leave Fulham to join Nottingham Forest, especially after signing a new contract until 2026 last October.
Forest also face the risk of breaching financial rules again this year and need to generate around £30 million in profit from player sales over the coming weeks.
