Nottingham Forest are intensifying their push to sign a new striker this month as the transfer window drama unfolds on Trentside.
Yesterday, Nottingham Forest were linked to two potential striker signings: Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez. In the morning, Fabrizio Romano reported that Forest had made an initial bid for Gimenez, which was rejected by the Eredivisie club. Later that evening, David Ornstein suggested that Forest might prioritize signing Nketiah instead.
So, which player is truly at the top of Forest’s target list as they look to strengthen their squad with more firepower?
HITC Football’s transfer expert, Graeme Bailey, clarified the situation. He stated, “Eddie Nketiah is an option for Forest, but I’m told that Santiago Gimenez is their top target. However, they know securing him won’t be easy due to interest from other European clubs.”
Gimenez, who scored 26 goals for Feyenoord last season and has already netted four times this season, is likely seen as a safer bet than Nketiah. At just 23, Gimenez is viewed as a more promising prospect. In contrast, at 25, Nketiah has yet to prove himself as a consistent 20-goal-a-season striker, and even at Arsenal, he hasn’t been able to secure a regular starting spot while both players come with their pros and cons, it’s clear that Gimenez is Forest’s primary target. Nketiah appears to be a backup option if the Gimenez deal doesn’t materialize. With just over a week left in the transfer window, things are heating up for Forest.
