Nottingham Forest are increasingly confident of securing their sixth signing with a £5m deal soon.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly nearing their sixth signing of this summer’s transfer window.

It has been a positive start to the summer on all fronts for Nuno Espirito Santo and his side. Nottingham Forest have been proactive in the window, bringing in five new faces and selling several players for considerable fees.

Evangelos Marinakis may have been worried about last month’s PSR deadline, but the sales of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate alleviated any concerns. Despite having signed five players already, Forest are not stopping there after a 2023/24 season that threatened relegation until the final week.

Forest fans may not have to wait much longer to see signing number six land at the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest Closing on Signing Number Six

Friday night saw the Reds take to the pitch for the second time this summer, facing Championship outfit Sunderland in Spain. After comfortably beating Chesterfield last weekend, Forest faced tougher opposition and worked hard in the heat for their 1-1 draw against the Black Cats.

Forest go again early next week with a game against Millwall, which could see Nikola Milenkovic make his debut after signing this week. While signing number six may not land in time for that match, Forest are said to be closing in on their next arrival of the summer.

According to Rudy Galetti, Forest are now in advanced talks with Brazilian side Palmeiras to sign Riquelme Fillipi. There is a growing confidence that a deal could soon be struck for a fee around £5m.

The young Brazilian, at just 17 years old, is certainly a player for the future, but Forest are trying to get ahead in finding young talent from Brazil after their recent success.

Who is Riquelme Fillipi?

The Reds have gained a lot of confidence from their signing of Murillo, who is now viewed as a potential £70m player. Forest will be looking to find more gems from the Brazilian market, hoping to do so with the 17-year-old Riquelme Fillipi.

The forward can play on either wing and played a significant role in Brazil’s recent triumph in the South American Under-17 Championship. Riquelme has based his game around Neymar Jr, who was his role model as a child growing up in Brazil. He has also admitted he is capable of playing as a centre-forward, aiming to be as versatile as possible.

“I am a very fast player who likes to dribble,” Riquelme told O Globo. “I always try to pay special attention to my finishing and, regarding positioning, I can adapt to different formations. Modern football demands this versatility. So I can play as a winger, mainly on the left side, as well as a centre forward.”
