The New England Patriots have faced a quarterback drought for some time now. Cam Newton’s performance in Foxboro didn’t live up to his past successes, and Mac Jones’ tenure as quarterback was brief.
Now, with Jones no longer part of the team, the Patriots are eager to usher in the Jerod Mayo era on a positive note.
NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, reporting for ESPN, suggests that the Patriots are strongly considering using their No. 3 pick to secure a new quarterback for the team.
“Certainly they’re prepared to take a quarterback… They have a high grade on Jayden Daniels… Drake Maye too, they’re high on,” Fowler said

While the New England Patriots have received inquiries about potentially trading down in the draft, they haven’t received any offers enticing enough to seriously consider such a move.
However, they remain open to the possibility while maintaining high evaluations for quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Drake Maye.
With Daniels expected to be selected second overall by the Washington Commanders, speculation suggests that the Patriots may opt for Maye, a highly regarded prospect known for his talent and physical abilities, despite concerns about his throwing mechanics.
Many analysts believe that Maye would benefit from spending a year as an understudy, possibly learning from veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
As the draft approaches, it appears increasingly likely that the Patriots are prepared to make another attempt at finding the successor to Tom Brady.
