Former Sunderland player Brian Deane has given his assessment of three possible head coach prospects.
Former player Brian Deane has given his assessment on three contenders for the position of head coach at Sunderland during the summer.
Following Michael Beale’s dismissal earlier this year, interim head coach Mike Dodds is presently in the position. Since then, the position has been associated with people like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Roy Keane, and Scott Parker.
“I have played against both Ole and Roy (Keane) as players and managed against Ole when I was over in Norway, and Ole has a different style to Roy clearly – you can see that with the two personalities,” Deane stated to Seven Jackpots Online Casino.
“Ole has accomplished a great deal in his role as manager. Although his approach may be distinct and more open to hearing from others than Roy’s, this does not imply that either is the best course of action. Both of them have played and managed in high-pressure environments, so I believe either one of them would be excellent choices. I believe that with a team like Sunderland, you need someone who will understand what it is like to be in match scenarios.
“People have different methods of expressing passion, but Ole and Roy both have a lot of passion, and either would be a good fit for a club like Sunderland.
When asked about Paker, Deane responded, “I believe so, because Scott had a great track record at Fulham, performed well at Bournemouth, and then things went south when they were promoted. I’m not sure if that works against him or not. Being from the North, you have to understand that, in addition to wanting to be entertained, fans want players to give it their all on the field. They want blood, sweat, and tears on the shirts. For this reason, I believe players like Solskjaer and Keane have it in their DNA.”
Last Saturday in the Championship, Sunderland and QPR were held to a scoreless draw at the Stadium of Light. Mike Dodds’ team maintained their first clean sheet since New Year’s Day and ended a six-game losing streak in a contest of little opportunities. With eight games left in the Championship table, Sunderland is now 12th in the standings following the outcome.
