Newcastle’s midfielder Bruno Guimaraes’ release clause will be effective from late May to early June.
Since his arrival from Lyon in January 2022, Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has been a standout performer for Newcastle United. With 45 appearances across all competitions this season, he has notched up four goals and eight assists, proving his worth to the Magpies.
However, amidst his impressive form, there’s a clause in his contract that has caught the attention of many. Guimaraes signed a new five-year deal last October, securing his stay at St James’s Park until 2028. This contract includes a release clause set at £100 million, as disclosed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
According to Romano, this release clause will only be active for a month, spanning from the last week of May to the beginning of the last week of June. Beyond that period, Newcastle will have full control over negotiations and the player’s valuation. This revelation has sparked interest from several top European clubs, including Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain.
With the summer transfer window looming, potential suitors now have a limited window to secure Guimaraes’ services for the set £100 million fee. After this period, Newcastle will have the authority to dictate the terms and price of any potential transfer.
As Newcastle pushes for European qualification for the second consecutive season, they face a tight race with other contenders. Currently sitting seventh in the league, just three points behind sixth-placed Manchester United, every match becomes crucial. Their upcoming fixtures against Sheffield United and Burnley will play a pivotal role in their pursuit of European football next season.
