As the 2023–24 NBA regular season draws to a close, G Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz enters his fourth full season and tenth professional career.
His time in Salt Lake City may be coming to an end this summer due to a possible trade, but he has left fans with innumerable memories and incredible highlights from his time with the Jazz. He has been a mainstay of the team since his arrival in mid-2020.
However, this is by no means the final time we will see JC wearing an NBA outfit. He proved to be a prolific scorer, facilitator, and energy source for the second unit this season, and whoever team he plays for in the upcoming 2024–25 campaign will be fortunate to have him.
When asked what he wanted to achieve in the latter years of his playing career at his end-of-season news conference, Clarkson stated that he wanted to win a ring and maybe some more hardware to add to his collection.
Sure, winning another Sixth Man of the Year would be fantastic,” Clarkson remarked. However, yes. Win a title, hopefully, and participate in a competition. I do want to accomplish all of those things, thus they are all on my list of things to do. Those two options seem fantastic, and if we follow that route, I’m sure to win.”
In 305 games during his Jazz career, Clarkson has averaged 17.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. This has helped him reach three postseason visits and, of course, his 2021 Sixth Man of the Year campaign.
With the potential to consistently score 15 points or more each game, he will be turning 32 next year and could end up being a valuable rotational player for a team that is close to the championship. He has participated in SMOY negotiations three times in his ten years in the league (in 2018, 2021, and 2022). In the future, he hopes to have another opportunity to win the prize, perhaps in SLC or some other location.
Upon the start of this offseason, one of the most intriguing stories to follow for this Utah club will be what the seasoned Jazz guard has in store as they continue their slow rebuilding process.
