As Elliot Embleton is ready to make his comeback from injury, Michael Beale thinks he plays a big part for the team.
After overcoming a severe leg injury sustained at Hull the previous season, Embleton returned to full fitness and signed a loan with Derby on September 1.
Unfortunately, a thigh issue caused the spell to expire nearly instantly, landing him back in the treatment room.
If everything goes according to plan, Embleton will make his Under-21s debut this week and provide Beale another solid midfield option for the remainder of the campaign.
Beale adds that Embleton’s ability to impart the supporters’ passion to young players is another reason Embleton, a lifelong Sunderland supporter, is valuable.
“We don’t have enough people in the building who have been on Elliot’s journey and witnessed the development of the team and the club over the last two years,” Beale remarked on the player’s time at the club.
“I think that experience is incredibly crucial for young guys coming in the building. Luke has one, and Elliot is definitely another.
“Last night, I had dinner with the three new signings to discuss how they’ve adapted to the club and what sets us apart from the others. However, it’s crucial that the players also acclimate [new] players to the club: our club’s culture, our conduct, and our training methods are all aspects that the supporters find extremely significant.
“We need to have one or two individuals in the building that talk like that as well, in case a fan comes in and speaks with those guys. Players, in my opinion, should be aware of the club’s significance to the community and its passion.
