Luis Hemir is definitely one of Sunderland’s attacking possibilities, according to Michael Beale, who says the team finally looks to have some options.
Luis Hemir forced himself into the head coach’s considerations in the middle of the week, giving Michael Beale reason to believe he faces fierce competition in the forward positions.
Hemir scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Bristol City for the under-21 team this week, putting in a strong display.
In the past two games, Mason Burstow and Nazariy Rusyn have also scored, so Beale is pleased to see guys pushing for a spot in the starting lineup.
“Mason and Nazariy scored in the last couple of games,” Beale said. “Semedo (Hemir) scored in the B team in midweek and Adil [Aouchiche] got an assist. “So, in that sense, people are pushing each other and that’s what you want.”
When Rusyn scored late in the game from a long distance against Middlesbrough, he was the real MVP of the match.
The striker issue should have finished with Rusyn’s goal and impact, for many, and Beale has stated that he does plan to deploy the Ukrainian.
He is still quite receptive to suggestions on how to maximize his potential and what position he ought to play.
When asked about Rusyn in particular, Beale responded, “I would say he is right to play across the front three.”
“I think he’s a bit of a hybrid. He’s not just the number nine. It’d be unfair of me to say that Naz is just the number nine because he likes to pull wide, he likes to dribble. He’s moving down the side. His energy is really good.
“In the next three games, you’re certainly going to be seeing Rusyn playing.”
