On Sunday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions will play at AT&T Stadium. Both teams want to win their fourth game of the season, but the home team’s defensive strength will be deficient. The Cowboys’ roster of injuries is always growing. Trevon Diggs, the cornerback, has struggled this week in practice due to an ankle injury and illness. However, he can now resume playing. It’s good news that they plan to get cornerback Daron Bland back soon; he was officially declared questionable for the game but was given a DNP on Friday. Although his status is listed as week-to-week, All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons (ankle) will not be playing this weekend. Erik Kendricks, the starting middle linebacker, is also out.
Additionally, defensive end Marshawn Kneeland was placed on the inactive reserve on Wednesday, along with defensive end Demarcus Lawrence. Dak Prescott, the quarterback, will have to carry the load in this one. CeeDee Lamb is still his top receiver, but Jalen Brooks, Jalen Tolbert, and KaVontae Turpin will have to step up with Brandin Cooks down. The Cowboys will probably have to commit their linebackers, the healthy ones at that, to help stop the run since the Lions’ potent running attack with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs will be difficult to stop up the middle. This could occasionally result in tight end Sam LaPorta and receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams being in single coverage.
To prevent being taken advantage of by play-action, the Cowboys might have to be selective about whether to deploy their linebackers for assistance. Both teams are expected to face difficult opposition in this game. .. with health being undoubtedly important.
