Sophomore Christiaan Maas secures his second All-America recognition this year.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas sophomore Christiaan Maas has been named to the 2024 Golfweek All-America Third Team, marking his second All-America honor this season. Previously, Maas was selected for the Division I PING All-America Third Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Maas finished his sophomore year with a team-leading 71.09 stroke average and is ranked No. 15 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings (as of June 5). He participated in 13 of UT’s 14 events, achieving four top-10 and seven top-20 finishes. He posted scores of par or better in 19 of his 34 rounds, including 12 rounds in the 60s.
Maas secured his first collegiate individual victory at the NCAA Austin Regional (May 13-15) with a 9-under 204 (71-67-66). Additionally, he placed third at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational (Sept. 15-17) with a 7-under 133 (69-64) and tied for fourth at the Johnnie-O Intercollegiate (Mar. 11-12) with an 8-under 208 (69-68-71). At the NCAA Championships (May 24-27), he tied for 11th place with a 72-hole score of even-par 288 (74-71-70-73), earning a spot on the NCAA Championship All-Tournament Team.
