McKenna should decisively bench Burns and unleash Ipswich’s “unbelievable” talent.

Kieran McKenna needs to take decisive action by benching Wes Burns and giving Ipswich’s “unbelievable” talent a chance to shine.

Ipswich Town has faced a tough start in the Premier League, battling against teams like Liverpool and Manchester City before November. Despite this challenging run, the Tractor Boys find themselves above the relegation zone with four draws, indicating that survival is within reach. However, after suffering two losses in a row, McKenna must shake things up to secure his first win of the season against Brentford.

Burns, while effective in previous seasons, has underperformed this year, failing to contribute with goals or assists in his six appearances. His recent display against Everton was particularly poor, resulting in a low rating due to a lack of impact and multiple mistakes. McKenna must recognize that it’s time for a change on the right flank.

In place of Burns, Sammie Szmodics should be the go-to choice. Although Szmodics typically hasn’t played on the right, his talent is undeniable. Last season at Blackburn, he showcased his scoring ability, netting 33 goals in 48 games. While adjusting to a new position may be challenging, his creativity and skill can provide the much-needed spark in Ipswich’s attack. McKenna should take this opportunity to elevate his team’s performance and unlock Szmodics’ potential.
