Man City and Newcastle ‘in the race to sign Wolves star this summer as they look to bolster their attack – but could be forced to pay £60m for forward’

Manchester City and Newcastle are both in the hunt for a Wolves player as they aim to strengthen their attacking lines for the upcoming season. Wolves have set a high asking price of £60 million, a record fee for the club, surpassing previous transfers like Matheus Nunes to Man City for £53 million and Ruben Neves to Al-Hilal for £47 million in 2022.

With Wolves looking to offload key players, manager Gary O’Neil has cautioned that they may need to sell before they can buy. The club is also considering recalling loaned-out players like Goncalo Guedes, Daniel Podence, or Fabio Silva, which could open up the opportunity to part ways with one of their key attackers.

According to The Telegraph, both Manchester City and Newcastle are keen on signing Wolves’ standout performer Pedro Neto. The 24-year-old forward has been hampered by hamstring injuries this season, causing him to miss 20 games and 129 days. Despite this, he has managed to contribute two goals and nine assists in just 18 games.

Previously, Mail Sport had reported Manchester City’s interest in Neto as they aim to bolster their attacking options. Newcastle, on the other hand, are eager to sign the winger alongside other targets like Anthony Gordon, Jacob Murphy, and Harvey Barnes.

Wolves finished 14th in the Premier League under Gary O’Neil’s management, with Neto acknowledging the coach’s role in the team’s development. However, he believes there is room for improvement and hopes to see the team aim higher in the future.

Looking ahead, Neto is optimistic about his chances of being called up for Portugal’s Euro 2024 squad despite facing stiff competition in his position. He remains focused on his recovery and aims to make a strong case for selection.
