The UEFA Nations League 2024/25 has kicked off, with all European teams set to play their first two group stage matches this month. England will be under the guidance of interim manager Lee Carsley for the first time, following Gareth Southgate’s departure this summer. Southgate led England to yet another UEFA Euros final, cementing their status as one of Europe’s top teams.
Carsley will be tasked with continuing this success, starting with their opening match against the Republic of Ireland. This international break will see the inclusion of several young talents, including former Southampton fullback Tino Livramento. Livramento, who moved from Chelsea to Southampton for £25 million in 2021 and made 34 appearances, transferred to Newcastle United for £38 million last year.
Reflecting on his time at Southampton, Livramento shared, “I loved every minute of being on the pitch at Southampton. The fans, the manager, and the team were all incredibly supportive, especially during my injury struggles.”
Livramento was a solid right-back in his debut season at St. Mary’s but was sidelined for almost the entire 2022/23 season due to injury. His absence coincided with Southampton’s defensive struggles, contributing to their relegation from the Premier League. With the international break over, Russell Martin’s side will be looking to bounce back and improve their performance in the Premier League.
