Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker criticized Nottingham Forest’s tactics following their surprise victory at Anfield.
Liverpool suffered their first defeat under Arne Slot, losing 1-0 to Nottingham Forest thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi’s second-half goal. This marked the first goal Slot’s side had conceded all season and extended Forest’s unbeaten start to the campaign.
For Liverpool, it was an unexpected setback, as they struggled to break through Forest’s solid defense, which effectively nullified their attacking efforts. Alisson Becker voiced his frustration with Forest’s tactics, especially after the Reds’ sluggish performance following the international break.
Alisson expressed his disappointment with the loss, pointing out the difficulties Liverpool faced in breaking down a team that focused on defending and long balls.
“Losing points at home is not good at all,” he said. “The opponent only wanted to defend and play for the long ball. We gave them that too easily when they scored.”
Reflecting on Liverpool’s lackluster display, Alisson added,
“We couldn’t create much, we had a lack of quality today, and needed more energy. It’s three points we lost unnecessarily. All the opportunities we had weren’t clear enough, and they defended great, throwing themselves in front of the ball.”
For Alisson and his teammates, it was a frustrating afternoon they’ll want to move past quickly. Now, Slot faces the challenge of bouncing back from this setback with Liverpool’s Champions League opener against Milan just days away, followed by a home match against Bournemouth next weekend.
