Liam Manning confirms key Bristol City duo’s return against Premier League hopefuls Leicester City.

The Robins welcome the Championship frontrunners on Friday afternoon.

Liam Manning anticipates a boost for Bristol City as Matty James and Joe Williams are set to return for the Robins’ upcoming match against Championship leaders Leicester City on Friday.

James had been sidelined for the team’s last five matches due to an Achilles problem, while Williams missed out on the previous game against West Bromwich Albion due to a minor hamstring injury. Manning provided reassurance regarding their readiness, stating, “Yeah, they’re still on track (for Friday).”

He highlighted that James is slightly ahead in his recovery, having resumed full training, while Williams is also progressing with training sessions, aiming for a return by the end of the week.

Additionally, Manning noted the return of Tommy Conway and Dire Mebude from Scotland duty, along with Jason Knight and Mark Sykes representing the Republic of Ireland.

However, the scheduling presents challenges as they will only return on Wednesday, leaving limited time to prepare for the Friday fixture after Tuesday’s game. Manning acknowledged the demanding schedule but emphasized the need to adapt and make decisions accordingly.

Furthermore, Scott Twine, who made his debut for Bristol City against Watford in January, made his return against West Bromwich Albion, coming off the bench for his first appearance since his debut.

Manning expressed satisfaction with Twine’s progress in building up match fitness over the past 10 days and hinted at the possibility of him starting against Leicester City, stating, “He did the full week training last week and was excellent, I’m looking forward to seeing him in training today and tomorrow, he’ll be in contention for Friday.”
