Leicester City have initiated talks for a new manager and are pushing to have their appointment ready for the upcoming match against Brentford on Saturday (30 November), sources have told *Football Insider*.
Discussions are ongoing with top candidates after Steve Cooper’s sacking on Sunday (24 November). According to reports, Graham Potter, David Moyes, and Ruud van Nistelrooy are on Leicester’s shortlist.
Van Nistelrooy has reportedly emerged as the frontrunner following recent talks. With all three candidates currently out of work, the process could move quickly as Leicester aim to make a timely appointment. Club officials hope to have the new manager in place not just for the Brentford game but also for the busy festive fixtures, starting with West Ham at home on 3 December.
Cooper’s dismissal, after just 12 league games, was partly driven by player unrest. The 2-1 defeat to Chelsea marked the end of his short tenure, despite signing a three-year contract only five months ago.
While Graham Potter remains a target following prior discussions, it’s unclear if he will accept the role. Moyes offers extensive Premier League experience, while Van Nistelrooy’s interim stint at Manchester United has also drawn attention.
Leicester’s pre-Boxing Day schedule includes challenging clashes against West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle, Wolves, and Liverpool. Meanwhile, criticism has been directed at Leicester’s ownership for their handling of Cooper’s departure, with some labeling the treatment as unfair.
