Crysencio Summerville will sign a five-year contract on Saturday to leave Leeds United with his move to West Ham now sealed, Florian Plettenberg reports.
According to the Sky Sports Germany journalist via X on 3 August the Dutchman will put pen to paper the same day on terms running to 2029.
The fee “all-in” for the Elland Road star is set to only amount to a maximum of £25million as he becomes the latest to leave Daniel Farke’s squad during the transfer window, following Archie Gray’s £40m move to Tottenham [Fabrizio Romano, 2 July].
Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth reported on 2 August that the winger had completed his Irons medical.
Leeds United star has completed West Ham medical
Summerville’s exit in itself is not the greatest shock when the 22-year-old was always going to be in demand during the transfer window after he was named the Championship Player of the Season.
His breakout campaign saw him star under Farke and score 21 goals in all competitions to attract interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool [The Sun, 28 May].
But the fact that he is being sold even after Gray turned out to be the first big-money asset out the door is a greater disappointment.
And Whites fans won’t be overjoyed to see him go for what looks like a cut-price fee so soon after talkSPORT had reported on 30 July that they were holding out for £40m and set to see off the threat from the Hammers.
It appears any possible late collapse has been averted at the medical testing stage so the focus at Elland Road will be how the money is spent to replace a huge slice of the attacking output last term.
Glen Kamara has also gone to Rennes and there is the potential for further significant exits [Daily Mail, 1 July], so with time running out before the season starts in a week against Portsmouth new arrivals are paramount.
