Georginio Rutter is expected to reject a new contract offer from Leeds United to join Brighton, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT correspondent reported on 15 August that the Seagulls triggered the Frenchman’s £40million release clause “just before it expired”.
The Whites offered an improved deal to the 22-year-old which he is “expected to snub” in order to pursue a move to the Premier League.
Georgino Rutter to reject Leeds United for Brighton
After missing out on promotion to the Premier League through the playoffs, it was always going to be hard for Daniel Farke to keep hold of his key players.
It seemed like the squad was somewhat set for the season after Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville confirmed moves away from Elland Road.
Rutter began the campaign against Portsmouth and even came on in the disappointing Carabao Cup defeat against Middlesbrough.
With that, it seemed that his future was safe until January at the very least but now a move to Brighton feels extremely likely.
The Seagulls have swooped in to try and sign the Frenchman after triggering his release clause just before it was set to expire.
This will be devastating news for Leeds fans to hear after already losing key names earlier on in the window.
It has been a difficult start for the campaign for Farke with a draw and a loss, now it looks set to get even harder with Rutter set to leave.
