The teams that Leeds United faced relegation from last season all appear to be being investigated by PSR regulations.
The Premier League has already fined and docked Everton six points, and they could face a further one along with Nottingham Forest.
Leicester City, who were demoted alongside Leeds, now appear to be facing consequences as well. Should they get promoted, they may even begin the following season with a negative point total.
As previously stated, all three of those teams battled for survival with Leeds during the previous campaign, thus it is obvious that the Whites have every right to feel resentful since they complied with the regulations.
The Athletic claims that people working behind the scenes are actually extremely irritated with their competitors since, unlike Leeds, they were unable to offload important players like Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips.
Rivals’ sales of Phillips and Raphinha have Leeds irritated.
Leeds always knew that selling their two top players would be tough because they had barely avoided relegation on the last day of the previous season.
According to The Athletic, Leeds made almost £90 million in sales from the two players, of which £42 million came from Phillips’ transfer from the academy to City.
Leeds’ summer transfer window was fully funded by the departure of its main players, but multiple players were brought in as replacements because reinforcements were needed all over the pitch.
Willy Gnonto is the only player that remains at Elland Road after the rest were either sold or sent on loan. In the end, the players who were brought in were insufficient, and Leeds was relegated.
Leeds will need to hire much more wisely going forward if promotion is secured, but you can put more trust in the people working behind the scenes than in Victor Orta right now.
