Leeds United has reportedly made a bid to acquire 17-year-old forward Mason Cotcher from Sunderland, according to recent reports.
Cotcher, who emerged from Sunderland’s academy, underwent a trial at Elland Road and is said to have been offered a contract by Leeds following his stint.
Despite Sunderland’s efforts to retain him by extending a professional contract upon his 17th birthday last summer, negotiations fell through, prompting his exploration of other options.
Cotcher, an England youth international, garnered attention from various clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, before spending the past two months on trial with Leeds.
The Telegraph indicates that Leeds has now tabled an offer to Sunderland for the promising teenager. If Cotcher finalizes a move to Leeds, Sunderland would be entitled to a compensation fee, though it’s expected to be relatively modest given the player’s age.
