LATEST UPDATE: Newcastle takes lead over Juventus in the pursuit of Man City midfielder

According to rumors, Newcastle may have a better chance of signing Kalvin Phillips if Juventus decides not to pursue him.
The Manchester City midfielder has long piqued Eddie Howe’s interest, and Phillips is eager to gain more playing time before Euro 2024.
Only four Premier League games have Phillips been able to come off the bench this season, despite starting two of them.
Due to the long-term suspensions of Paul Pogba and Nicola Fagiolo, Juventus was eager to add him to their midfield.

Fabrizio Romano, however, claims that following conversations with Manchester City regarding a loan fee and salary, their lust has soured.

This implies that Newcastle will have one less opponent in the fight for his signature unless something happens to get Juventus back into the fold.
Whether on loan or permanently, Phillips might be advantageous to Newcastle for the team as well as to himself.
According to Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel, if the 28-year-old plays regular Premier League football, he would “start at Euro 2024.”

“I think Phillips walks into that team if he is starting regularly and if he stays in the Premier League at the very highest level—and this is no disrespect to Serie A at all—and he can prove himself back in the Premier League,” he said to Mail Sport’s It’s All About Football. Phillips will start at Euro 2024 alongside Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham.

Phillips has not started a Premier League game this season and wants more playing time ahead of Euro 2024

He doesn’t play much for City, but Gareth Southgate consistently starts him for England.
Joe Willock and Elliot Anderson are two midfielders that Newcastle is missing due to an injury crisis.
Importantly, Sandro Tonali has a one-year suspension for unlawful betting in Italy, even though Newcastle paid £52 million for him in the summer.
Phillips might help a team that is overworked and out of form by taking some of the load off them. In nine games, Newcastle has won twice and lost the other seven.
Although he stated that Phillips is not in his plans, Pep Guardiola acknowledged last month that he does not know what the future holds for him.

He expressed regret for not selecting him, saying, “He has good character.” I try to picture him when I visualize my team and choose a team.
Romano, a transfer analyst, claims that Phillips is being considered by other teams. He continues by saying that Juventus’ focus has shifted to pursuing Lille center back Tiago Djalo.
