Since Washington fired Ron Rivera over two weeks ago, Johnson has been the reported top target. However, the Commanders, under new owner Josh Harris and new GM Adam Peters, promised a thorough search to find the best leader.
While many around the NFL believe Johnson will end up in Washington once Detroit’s season ends, one NFL legend and media member believes Johnson to the Commanders is a “lock.”
Boomer Esiason has suggested that Ben Johnson is a “lock” to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders.
Esiason stated on his morning radio programme on WFAN that he thinks Johnson, who is currently the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, will be hired by the Commanders.
Johnson was praised by Esiason, who even referred to him as the “best coach available.” The Washington Commanders have not yet made an official announcement about their new head coach.
Given that the Detroit Lions are set to play in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, an official announcement regarding Ben Johnson’s coaching status cannot be made until after the current season concludes.
However, Boomer Esiason’s conjecture regarding Johnson’s hiring by the Washington Commanders is consistent with earlier reports.
Johnson has been linked to the Commanders throughout the month and has also had interviews with other teams such as the Panthers, Seahawks, Chargers, and Falcons.
The Commanders, along with the other two teams, still need to fill their coaching vacancies, as the Chargers have already filled theirs by signing Jim Harbaugh.
