There is buzzing news from the Championship, particularly regarding Sunderland’s league rival, Burnley, who are also in the process of appointing a new head coach.
Former Hull manager Liam Rosenior, once considered for the Burnley position, is reportedly no longer a candidate.
Rosenior, who had been in the running for Sunderland’s head coach position, initially engaged in talks with the club’s top officials. However, these discussions did not advance as Sunderland decided to explore other options.
The 39-year-old was also in contention for the Burnley job after Vincent Kompany’s departure to Bayern Munich.
According to Football Insider, Rosenior is now out of the race for the role at Turf Moor. The publication also mentioned that Burnley interviewed several potential candidates last week, including former Chelsea and Everton manager Frank Lampard.
Although Lampard had been previously linked to the Sunderland job, he is currently not being considered for the position at the Stadium of Light.
The 45-year-old recently expressed his eagerness to return to management during an interview with Talksport, following his interim stint at Chelsea at the end of the 2022/23 season.
