Kelly Oubre is out against the Celtics and plans to rejoin the 76ers shortly.

Kelly  Oubre  will not  play for  the  76ers  at  Boston  on  Friday.

Kelly Oubre  made his  club  debut  following his rib  fracture  earlier  this week  when  the  Philadelphia  76ers  went  on  a  two-game  road trip.

Oubre  would  not  be  able  to  play  on  Wednesday  against  the  Pelicans,  Nick  Nurse  announced  prior  to  the  Sixers’  trip  to  New  Orleans.

But  Oubre’s  return  to  the  starting lineup  against  the Boston  Celtics  on  Friday  is  still  possible.

On  Thursday,  everything  was  pointing  toward  that  possible  outcome. The  Sixers  had  a  workout  after  suffering  a  double-digit  loss  to  the Pelicans.  It was  Oubre’s  first  practice  back  as  a  full  participant  since  his  injury  in  early  November. Following  the workout,  Nurse  informed  the  media  that  there  was  a  chance  Oubre  would  be  classified  as  questionable,  which  would  be  a  significant  step  toward  his  comeback. Sadly,  it  wasn’t  the  situation.

Oubre  has  been  declared  out  of  Friday’s  game  in  Boston  by  the  Sixers. The  veteran  player  for the  Sixers will  miss his 11th  straight  game  Kelly Oubreue  to  his  impending  absence. Although  Oubre  will  technically  miss one  more week  of action  in the  Sixers’ rotation,  there is still  a chance  he might  play  next  week. Oubre is hoping  to make  a comeback  next week,  and it’s  possible  he’ll be  ready  for the  Sixers’  next game  against  the Washington  Wizards on Wednesday.  This  is  according  to  Shams  Charania  of  The  Athletic.

Oubre is hoping to make a comeback next week, and it’s possible he’ll be ready for the Sixers’ next game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday. This is according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. Between  their  game  against  the  Celtics  and their newly  added game  against the  Wizards, the  Sixers  will have four  days off.

With his 2023–2024  season  off to  a great start,  that gives  the squad  plenty of  time to get Oubre  back in  the mix and  ready  to go. Before  going out  for several weeks,  Oubre  played  29  minutes  a night  on  average. Out  of  the  eight  games  he  played,  he started  five  of  them. Oubre  made  50% of  his shots  from the  field and 38% of his three-pointers  throughout  that period,  demonstrating  his  efficiency. Before  missing  time  due  to  an  injury,  he  scored  16  points  a  night  on  average.

Oubre’s  position  as a  starter  is not  certain. Before  Oubre’s injury,  Nick  Nurse  was  already discussing  the  possibility  that Nic  Batum  would  start  and  Oubre  would  return  to a reserve  position. If and  when  Batum  returns  next week,  Oubre  might  be starting  off the  bench  given his  continued  success. In  any  case,  the  brilliant  backup  will  play  a  significant  part for  the  team,  given  that,  prior  to his  injury,  he  was  excelling  as  a  scorer.
