The Boston Red Sox finally began working toward their aim of strengthening their pitching staff this winter.
Following the announcement that Chris Sale had been moved to the Atlanta Braves, the Red Sox made a trade to acquire a depth option who had some big-league experience.
On Tuesday, the Red Sox made the announcement on social media that they had claimed right-hander Max Castillo off of the Kansas City Royals’ waiver list.
Castillo will occupy the last position on the 40-man roster despite the fact that this signing will increase minor-league depth.
The club has not yet officially announced Lucas Giolito’s signing from last week, thus there will likely be some squad changes in the near future.
