The San Francisco 49ers were willing to sign Tom Brady before the 2023 season, according to Brock Purdy.
In an ESPN interview with Nick Wagoner, Brock Purdy disclosed that he was informed the San Francisco 49ers were interested in Tom Brady for the 2023 season. When Wagoner’s piece came out on January 16th, it surprising how little attention the statement got. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk did, however, share it again lately.
In 2023, Purdy became apparent as a potential MVP. Obviously, Purdy would have to play backup duty if Brady was signed. Following his retirement, Brady made his NFL debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2022 season. Although there were rumors that Brady will follow suit in 2023, he chose to remain retired.
And in San Francisco, Brock Purdy got his opportunity to shine.
After throwing for 4,280 yards and 31 touchdowns, Purdy was chosen for the Pro Bowl squad. In addition, the 49ers quarterback led the league in touchdown percentage, quarterback rating, and several other metrics.
Purdy is a product of the 49ers’ offense, according to some detractors. They have questioned his capacity to contribute to a different squad.
