It appears that Nick Sirianni , the head coach of the Eagles, has escaped and he will stay in Philadelphia, but he will have assistance from a new offensive coordinator.
Because he barely made it through, Sirianni feels that he must “reprove” himself.
After losing six of the previous seven games, including the wildcard playoff matchup against the Buccaneers, he acknowledged that the team was getting a “bit stale.”
Sirianni tried to stop the rot by getting rid of OC Brian Johnson late in the season, but the horse had already bolted.
“We’re bringing in a guy to bring in new ideas, to do the things that he’s done in the past,” Sirianni said.
After starting the season 10-1, the Eagles seemed full of promise and intent, but as the Super Bowl finalists, they collapsed.
“We’re going through an extensive search to get that right person. But it would be crazy not to add some of the things that we’ve done in the past here, as well. I don’t know if it’s going to be 95 percent this, 95 percent that — we’re not there yet.
“We’re working on getting the best guy in here for the job and a guy who has a vision, a guy who’s going to call the plays, a guy who’s going to be able to coach the quarterback in the same sense there. It’s just about getting the right guy, and then we’ll decide where that goes, but I’m hiring him”.
Texans offensive coordinator Jerrod Johnson and former Cardinal coach Kliff Kingsbury have both conducted interviews, but it does not appear like they have connected yet.
