JUST IN: Amad Diallo makes final Sunderland transfer stance clear few hours to deadline

Manchester United Star Amad Diallo has been linked with a loan exit from Man Utd this month, with Leicester City and Middlesbrough also interested.

Amad’s Stance

Amad Diallo has once again cast doubt on leaving Manchester United this month, despite rumours that he may be returning to Sunderland.

Amad’s future has been subject to speculation throughout January and several Championship sides were interested in taking him on loan.

Among them was Sunderland, where he had a fantastic season the previous year, making frequent appearances for the Black Cats.

Fabrizio Romano on Amad Diallo Transfer

Amad reportedly “pleaded” to return to the Stadium of Light this month in order to play more regular football, according to reports this week. Fabrizio Romano, however, quickly refuted those assertions, stating that the Ivorian is content to remain and battle for a few minutes between now and May.

Those reports were ‘liked’ by Amad on X, formerly Twitter, in the latest message from the United youngster on his plans.

This month, he has been active on social media. Previously, he denied rumours that he could rejoin Tony Mowbray at Birmingham City and dismissed speculations about a possible transfer to Middlesbrough.

Romano insists that talks have taken place between Amad and manager Erik ten Hag in which the winger’s place in the squad was made clear.

With Jadon Sancho now on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Facundo Pellistri anticipated to spend the next six months at Granada, he appears destined to be Antony’s direct competition.

Amad made his first and only appearance of the season during United’s 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest last month, starting off the bench against Pellistri after a protracted injury layoff.

The former Atalanta man was given the chance to prove himself as a first-team player in pre-season but lasted just a few minutes in the United States before suffering that cruel ankle injury against Arsenal.

The 21-year-old returned to the bench for Sunday’s 4-2 FA Cup victory over Newport County after a brief illness layoff. The Brazilian scored at Rodney Parade but that was his first effort in 23 appearances this season.
