The Utah Jazz are among the numerous NBA teams that have chosen to maintain the appearance of having a competitive advantage going into draft night by doing away with pre-draft media availability with players who come in for a workout. Instead, they prefer to keep their workouts as secretive as possible. Since the NBA combine in mid-May, the team has been having pre-draft workouts in Utah. As draft night approaches, more exercises are planned over the following few weeks. Some players who are thought to be lottery-level prospects have already joined the Jazz, or they plan to join them, according to league sources. These players include, but are not limited to, Cody Williams (Colorado), Tidjane Salaun (Cholet, France),Zach Edey (Purdue), Dalton Knecht (Tennessee), Jared McCain (Duke) and Tyler Kolek (Marquette).
Will the Jazz’s lottery draft pick come from this group of players?
Additionally, the Jazz have worked out or scheduled sessions with the following players: Jermaine Couisnard (Oregon), Jesse Edwards (West Virginia), Trentyn Flowers (Adelaide, NBL), Lance Jones (Purdue), Antonio Reeves (Kentucky), Cameron Tyson (Seattle), Enrique Freeman (Akron), Jonathan Mogbo (San Francisco), Boogie Ellis (USC), Jack Gohlke (Oakland), Adem Bona (UCLA), Jermaine Couisnard (Oregon), Jesse Edwards (West Virginia), Jesse Edwards (Virginia), Oso Ighodaro (Marquette), Ryan Dunn (Virginia), Enrique Freeman (Akron), Enrique Freeman (Akron), Jonathan Mogbo (San Francisco), Boogie Ellis (USC), and Jack Gohlke (Oaklke).
The athletes on this list have not all worked out for the Jazz; also, a draft workout may not always be as significant as some believe. Many player representatives decline organisations’ requests for workouts, yet the teams will still select the player in the draft because of the information they already possess. Furthermore, players occasionally miss practice because of scheduling conflicts or injuries, but this does not determine the outcome.
Even though Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh couldn’t agree to terms as recently as last year, the Jazz nevertheless selected them with the ninth and 28th picks, respectively. The first round of the 2024 draft will take place on June 26 and the second round on June 27 over the course of two days. In the 2024 draft, the Jazz are selected with the 10th, 29th, and 32nd picks (second pick in the second round).
