Jayson Tatum discloses the strategy behind the Celtics’ dominant victory over the Knicks in their primetime matchup.

The 2023-24 Boston Celtics have truly embraced the lesson of sharing ingrained in everyone from a young age.

With a league-leading position, the Celtics showcase an impressive balance in their offense, capable of flowing through any of their starting players.

In a recent Saturday night matchup against the New York Knicks, this team cohesion was prominently evident as each member of Boston’s starting five contributed with at least 12 points. Following their 116-102 victory in primetime, superstar forward Jayson Tatum revealed the key to their success to ESPN’s Lisa Salters.

Tatum attributed their achievements to unselfishness, a sense of purpose, and a strategic approach to finding favorable matchups for effective shot selection.

Despite Tatum’s relatively quiet game, where he posted 19 points in 43 minutes, his contributions extended beyond scoring. With six rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block, Tatum played a crucial role against the formidable Knicks.

Tatum emphasized the team’s understanding of their shared goal, stating, “We got a really good team, and we understand the important goal of what we’re trying to accomplish. So every single night we’re trying to share the love and play the right way.

” Jaylen Brown, a 2024 All-Star, exemplified playing the right way at Madison Square Garden, leading the Celtics in both scoring with 30 points and rebounding with eight defensive boards.

While New York managed to limit Tatum, Brown, and company, other Celtics players stepped up.

Former Knick Kristaps Porzingis contributed 22 points with just 11 shots, Derrick White added 13 points, and Jrue Holiday recorded 12 points on 50 percent shooting.

The bench also made significant contributions, with veteran center Al Horford contributing 10 points and seven rebounds in just 26 minutes.

Despite the Knicks slowing down key players, the Celtics’ balanced performance secured a double-digit win, marking the fourth time they’ve bested the Knicks this season.

Acknowledging that the Knicks weren’t at full strength, missing All-Star Julius Randle due to a shoulder injury and new addition OG Anunoby since January 27th, the Celtics dominated on both ends of the floor.

The victory sets the stage for one more regular-season clash between the Celtics and the Knicks on April 11th, with the potential for an exciting playoff series between these talented teams lingering in the future.
