Omari Hutchinson’s superbly curved goal against Hull City is in the running for the April Championship Goal of the Month accolade.
In a pivotal moment just before halftime with the score tied at 1-1, Ipswich Town secured a corner against Hull City. As the ball was cleared out to Luke Woolfenden, he quickly found Omari Hutchinson, who skillfully cut inside and unleashed a powerful left-footed shot into the top corner, putting Ipswich back in the lead.
Although the match ended in a 3-3 draw, Hutchinson replicated his impressive goal-scoring prowess in similar fashion after halftime. This crucial point played a significant role in Ipswich’s push for automatic promotion, while Hull City’s failure to secure a top-six finish ultimately led to manager Liam Rosenior’s departure.
Hutchinson’s stellar strike has earned him a nomination alongside three other players. Ryan Longman’s powerful effort for Millwall against Leicester City secured his place, while Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass caught Blackburn Rovers off guard with a clever chip, helping his team to a 3-1 victory. Additionally, Middlesbrough’s Emmanuel Latte Lath’s header against Leeds United, though in a losing effort, showcased his skill and earned him recognition.
Voting for the Goal of the Month award is open until 5pm on Monday, May 13th, with the winners set to be announced on Friday, May 17th.
