After putting on his best display while wearing an Ipswich Town shirt, explosive forward Omari Hutchinson hinted that he would play in Suffolk again the following year.
The Chelsea loanee shone on Wednesday as Town defeated Sheffield 6-0, scoring twice and setting up Ali Al-Hamadi for a goal.
With some significant Blue moments under his belt, the 20-year-old has already tallied eight goals and five assists this season.
When asked if it was his best Town performance to date, he smiled and said, “Definitely.”
He added: “That’s what the manager told me to do – he says when you play, just enjoy it, entertain the crowd and play your best game.
“We were relentless, we killed them off and we wanted to keep getting more goals. We didn’t stop. It was enjoyable.
“I think another five minutes and we could have got another goal, maybe one or two.”
Late in the game, Hutchinson had the opportunity to score a hat-trick, but he chose to pass instead, setting up Ali Al-Hamadi for a brace off the bench.
He explained: “I think it was the right decision, it was a bit too tight for me – maybe I could have dinked it, the boys said, but I saw him there and that’s the way it is. It was a great finish from him.”
Because of his play this season, Hutchinson has established himself as one of Town’s best-ever loan players, which has naturally raised questions about his potential to return.
When Asked about that
he said: “It’s going to be a difficult one, I don’t know the answer to that. But maybe – I hope so.
“Listen, I can’t tell you where I’m going to play. We’ll see in the summer what the right move is and what the best decision is for myself.
“I love it here, 100%. I’m glad I came.”
Asked if another loan was a possibility, he replied: “It’s a difficult one. Look, it will be one of my options, if everyone agrees with it.
“But I couldn’t give you the right answer now, you’ll just have to wait and see in the summer.
“I’ll talk to my family and my agency, and we’ll see what the best decision is for me.”
Of his time at Town, he replied:
“I didn’t expect it to be this good here. When I came it was about trying to get as much game time as I can, even if it was mid-table, as long as I was getting minutes and performing.
“When I first spoke to McKenna he seemed like a really good guy, he’s been in academies and development, so he knows how the youth are.
“For me it was the right step. I didn’t really care about promotion or anything like that, as long as we stayed in the Championship that was fine for me, and I was getting minutes.”
Asked when he realised this could be a good season for the Blues, he responded:
“When got five wins in a row at the start of the season.
“Even just how the group is, everyone’s like a family – and everyone works hard every day.
“I don’t think people understand how hard we work – the sessions are not easy, and it’s just a really good group.
“Everyone’s always going out with each other outside of training and I think that’s why the connection is so good.”
