Daniel Farke has yet to add a new midfielder to his Leeds United squad to replace Glen Kamara. Kamara, who left for Rennes this summer, was one of seven players sold by Farke’s Leeds. This sale is part of The 49ers’ strategy to address Profit & Sustainability Rules and avoid a potential points deduction. Initially, there were expectations that Leeds would sign a replacement for Kamara rather than relying on Joe Rothwell.
However, this replacement has not yet materialized. In the meantime, Ilia Gruev has been partnering with Ethan Ampadu in the midfield against Valencia. Both Gruev and Ampadu are being considered for the more defensive midfield role in Farke’s 4-2-3-1 formation at Elland Road. Meanwhile, the player Leeds had shown interest in is now a target for all three of the newly-promoted Premier League teams.
Farke was desperate to sign Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp
Leeds had identified Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp as a potential replacement for Glen Kamara. However, Skipp appears to have fallen out of favor under Ange Postecoglou, with Archie Gray now ahead of him in the pecking order.
Initially, Leeds discussed Skipp with Tottenham during negotiations about Gray’s move to North London, but Spurs rejected a deal. As a result, Leeds only managed to secure a permanent transfer for Joe Rodon.
Following Kamara’s departure, there was renewed interest from Leeds in a loan-to-buy arrangement for Skipp. However, Tottenham once again declined the offer. Farke, eager to reunite with Skipp following their successful time together at Norwich, has yet to secure this transfer.
Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich all want Tottenham’s Skipp
According to news, all three newly-promoted Premier League clubs are interested in signing Oliver Skipp. Leicester, who won the Championship, Ipswich, who finished second, and Southampton, who defeated Leeds in the play-off final, are all pursuing the England U21 star.
The report highlights that Skipp, praised as “fabulous” by Glenn Hoddle, is expected to leave Tottenham before the end of the transfer window, with a loan move appearing most likely initially.
It appears that Skipp will only depart from his boyhood club this summer if it is to join another Premier League team. He is not expected to move down to the Championship to reunite with Farke.
