Inter Milan will likely need just one more signing after acquiring Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal.
This perspective is detailed in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They suggest that the Nerazzurri will still look for one more forward in August.
As the Gazzetta notes, it is never easy for teams to navigate the transfer market after a season like the one Inter had last time out.
Typically, the priority is to keep a winning team together as much as possible.
The Nerazzurri are no exception in this regard.
Inter have long indicated their intention to retain all of last season’s regular starters.
They appear set to do so. Unless contract extension talks with Denzel Dumfries fall through or there are major surprises, the core of the team will remain intact.
Forward Signing Could Be One Last Piece Of Business For Inter After Juan Cabal
That does not mean Inter have not strengthened this summer.
Mehdi Taremi and Piotr Zielinski have both arrived on free transfers. This duo promises to enhance Inter’s depth.
The same goes for goalkeeper Josep Martinez, who is set to become the Nerazzurri’s new long-term goalkeeper as Yann Sommer is phased out.
Inter are also making another notable signing with Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal.
The Colombian will enable the Nerazzurri to reshuffle at the back, allowing Carlos Augusto to cover for the injured Tajon Buchanan at wingback.
Therefore, unlike rivals such as Juventus, Napoli, and AC Milan, Inter can already say their squad is almost complete. But maybe not quite. Rumours persist that Inter will still move to sign one more forward.
Whether it’s a big name or an unexpected free transfer, Inter could indeed make it five instead of four senior forwards in their squad.
Then, the Nerazzurri would likely call their summer transfer business done.
