Inter Milan Ally Themselves With AC Milan & Juventus In Serie A Reforms Battle – Trio Held Meeting With FIGC President

Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Juventus, typically fierce rivals in Serie A, have surprised many by forming an alliance in the ongoing battle for reforms within the league.

Despite their usual competitiveness on the pitch and in the transfer market, the three clubs have reportedly joined forces to advocate for a more competitive and streamlined Serie A.

Recent discussions between Serie A clubs and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) have highlighted the need for reforms, but reaching a consensus has proven challenging.

According to reports from ANSA via FcInterNews, Juventus, Milan, and Inter are advocating for a reduction in the number of participating teams from 20 to 18, a format already adopted by the German Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1. They argue that this adjustment would enhance competitiveness within Serie A.

In pursuit of their shared vision, the three northern Italian clubs held a meeting with FIGC president Gabriele Gravina to further discuss their proposal.

Beppe Marotta, the CEO of Inter Milan, stood as the representative for the Nerazzurri during the meeting, which also saw the presence of Juventus officials Maurizio Scannavino and Francesco Calvo, alongside AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni, who participated via video call.

The proposal put forth, advocating for a reduction in the number of Serie A participants from 20 to 18, might face resistance from smaller clubs within the league.

Such a change could potentially increase their susceptibility to relegation, a concern that is likely to be voiced by these clubs. However, the response from other top clubs, such as AS Roma, Lazio, and Napoli, remains to be seen, as their participation could significantly impact the outcome of this proposed reform.
