Inter is considering a Milan target as a potential replacement for Dumfries.

Despite recent indications suggesting a possible contract extension with Inter, the club is actively preparing for Denzel Dumfries’ potential departure this summer. They have shown interest in Matty Cash, who has also been linked with Milan, according to Sky Sports.

Aston Villa may need to offload more players, in addition to Douglas Luiz, to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Cash, who joined Aston Villa from Nottingham Forest for €16 million in 2020, has amassed 142 appearances, scoring 9 goals and providing 10 assists. He has also represented Poland 15 times.

Inter’s search for Dumfries’ successor extends beyond Cash. Sporting director Piero Ausilio recently scouted Dan Ndoye during the Scotland-Switzerland match. Ndoye plays in an attacking role for his national team and Bologna, having previously operated as a wing-back at Basel.

Another player on Inter’s radar is Emil Holm, who returns to Spezia after Atalanta declined to exercise their purchase option. However, Bologna has made a strong bid and appears to be leading the race for his permanent signature.

In light of Inter’s financial considerations, any potential transfer involving Cash or other targets may not materialize by June 30th without first selling a player. A swap deal involving Cash and a player from Inter, possibly involving Aston Villa’s interest, remains a possibility in the future.
