Negotiations between Inter and Lautaro Martinez have been impacted by the sudden change in ownership from Steven Zhang to Oaktree, which has prompted the club to reevaluate its strategies. CEO Giuseppe Marotta discussed the situation with DAZN (via Mediaset).
“The main issue in negotiations with a player is always the salary. While the talks haven’t completely stopped, they have slowed down due to the bureaucratic aspects of the Oaktree takeover. However, the outlook is positive because Lautaro is very keen to stay with us,” Marotta stated.
Marotta also acknowledged the contributions of the former president.
“Steven Zhang became very passionate about this club, and I hope he continues to follow us. I must thank the Zhang family for their financial support, which helped us win seven trophies in recent years.”
Looking ahead, Marotta is optimistic about Inter’s future.
“A new cycle is beginning. We are very confident because our plans are clear. The new ownership aims to provide continuity and honor the club’s history. They have already shown their commitment by entrusting us with the task. We aim to continue and achieve significant results.”
Lautaro Martinez’s agent, Alejandro Camano, also commented on the situation to TVPlay.
“Other teams are naturally interested in him, but I only speak with Inter and have no intention of changing that. Fans don’t need to know the details of the negotiations. The figures reported are not accurate. He still has two years on his contract, and fans should remain calm because he loves the team,” Camano reassured.
