Progress
Due to his knee injury in January 2022, Ball hasn’t participated in an NBA game in more than two years. The former two-way star’s injured knee has need three surgery since then. The most recent treatment, meanwhile, appears to be the most hopeful since reports state that Lonzo is now participating in supervised basketball drills and is no longer experiencing knee pain.
But it can be difficult to determine just how far along Ball is in his rehabilitation process, as noted by Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune on X, the former Twitter. Videos showing him working out like the one above may be encouraging, but in the end, the Bulls’ medical staff will decide when he’s fit to resume playing basketball in its entirety.
The long road back
A week ago, it was announced that Ball was at last permitted to proceed with more complex exercises during his recovery sessions. In other words, the UCLA product could now sprint, jump, and cut. According to Bulls coach Billy Donovan, Lonzo has adjusted to the heavier workload rather nicely.
“Some of the workouts have been really, really positive and he has progressed,” Donovan stated.
“He’s responding quite nicely. He looks good when he moves, among other things that the medical guys have shown me. I’m really incredibly pleased for him and his advancements. He’s put a lot of effort into getting to this point. And maybe he can keep getting better.”
