Caretaker boss Jon Worthington has promised his side will be ‘aggressive’ against Sunderland at The John Smith’s Stadium.
As he set out to portray his side as disruptors, Huddersfield Town manager Jon Worthington said that Sunderland is “a good young team” with great individuals.
The players have found fresh enthusiasm under the interim manager of the Terriers, their seven goals in their past two Championship games is evidence enough.
They dominated Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 in their most recent home game, but they also looked good in Saturday’s 5-3 loss to Southampton at St Mary’s.
“Every game is a challenge and we won’t be treating it any different to the previous two games.”
Under Worthington, Huddersfield appears considerably more focused and hungry than it did under Darren Moore, and a large part of it may be attributed to a new mindset.
Sunderland will have to contend with his team’s aggressive high press at The John Smith’s Stadium, according to his stated strategy.
“I think for me it’s trying to be as on the front foot as possible, be aggressive as we can to win the ball as high up the pitch as possible, as close to the opposition’s goal,” Worthington said.
“I’m a big believer in reactive pressure in terms of if you do make a mistake or you lose the ball in the attacking half that we win it back as quickly as possible to create more opportunities around their goal.
“It’s some simple things about passing forward and running forward. If you mix that in with peoples’ ability to fight and show they care, that’s how I see the game.”
