Heart breaking: As Luton Town show’s Another Midfielder exit door this Summer…

One subject that has been discussed several times already this summer relates to the future off our Scottish midfielder Allan Campbell.

In an article published back in June – midfielders-future-questioned – and in another article discussing the results of a related poll – hatters-support-predict-another-midfielder-will-be-leaving-the-club – it seemed that most supporters were of the opinion the midfielder would be heading for the Kenilworth Road exit.

Well those fears have been confirmed with the local media source – Luton Today – confirming that Campbell is looking out for a new club.

Despite any possible insinuations that our return to the EFL Championship might see Allan ressurect his career, the gaffer, Rob Edwards, has confirmed the 26-year-old will be leaving, with the boss reported by our referenced source, as remarking:

“Al will be moving on, but at the moment, he’s training, he’s here with us and that’s brilliant as we love having him around.”

“Allan’s an amazing professional and a brilliant guy, but he needs to get his career going again and get playing football as well. They’re difficult decisions. We always try and do it very respectfully and be honest with people.”

It must be a surreal experience training with your current colleagues but accepting that it is only a temporary measure while you wait for offers to come in.

It will be interesting to see where Allan ends up, anyone reckon he could be heading for Charlton Athletic and a reunion with Nathan Jones, or is a return to Scotland more likely?

Wherever Allan ends up, I’m sure none of us will forget the goal he scored, against Watford, back in April 2023 and the celebrations that quickly ensued
