Following last month’s Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest in New York City, the trend of celebrity look-alike competitions continues to thrive, with a growing number of events dedicated to iconic stars like Harry Styles, Paul Mescal, and Timothée Chalamet. The concept, which essentially brings multiple versions of a famous face into one place, has captivated the internet, sparking gatherings in various cities around the world.
Recently, Harry Styles look-alikes converged in London’s Soho Square, where journalist Katrina Mirpuri organized a competition that drew a crowd of over 100 people and featured 12 doppelgangers vying for the title. The winner walked away with a £50 prize, adding to the excitement of the lively event. Just before this, Dublin played host to its own Paul Mescal look-alike contest, where the champion received a modest reward of three pints, €20, and, of course, major bragging rights.
The look-alike phenomenon appears to have kicked off last month in New York with an event centered on Chalamet’s doppelgangers, which drew not only a large crowd but also the actual Timothée Chalamet, a police presence, and a prize of $50 for each participant. YouTuber Anthony Po, who organized the Chalamet contest, told *The Hollywood Reporter* that his motivation for hosting the event came from a desire to create public stunts as a form of performance art. Po explained that he enjoys planning fun, memorable events with his producer, Paige, seeking ways to spark joy and offer free entertainment for people to enjoy and talk about for years to come.
