Throughout the transfer window, Bayern Munich’s summer deals have faced considerable criticism. The club struggled to secure several targets, including Xavi Simons and Désiré Doué, and they even pulled out of negotiations for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
Despite these setbacks, the acquisitions of João Palhinha from Fulham and Michael Olise from Crystal Palace have been somewhat overlooked. Both players have made significant contributions during pre-season and the first few competitive matches of the new season.
Bayern’s star striker, Harry Kane, has taken note of their impact. He praised Palhinha’s performance in defensive midfield, stating, “Palhinha is an animal in that role. I’ve faced him many times.” Kane also lauded Olise for his impressive ball skills and potential for further growth, adding, “Michael’s ability on the ball is fantastic. His movement, dribbling, and final product are all at a high level, and he’s still very young with more improvement to come.”
With Hiroki Ito expected to return from injury soon, Bayern’s summer signings could prove to be even more effective as the season progresses.
