Green Bay Packers: Davante Adams Trade Rumors Heating Up Again With Entirely New Destination

Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams has been surrounded by trade rumors since joining the Las Vegas Raiders. His move west was significantly influenced by his desire to play alongside quarterback Derek Carr, and with Carr’s departure, many speculated that the 31-year-old Adams might seek to finish his career elsewhere.

These trade speculations are gaining momentum again. According to Alex Hoegler of Total Pro Sports, Adams has been a subject of trade rumors over the past year, despite expressing his contentment with the Raiders. During a frustrating season for the Raiders, Adams voiced his displeasure multiple times. However, a strong finish to the season under interim head coach Antonio Pierce, with a 5-4 record, temporarily quieted the trade chatter.

If the Raiders start the 2024 season poorly, new general manager Tom Telesco might consider trading Adams for future assets. Should Adams become available, many teams would be interested in acquiring his services. Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report suggested eight potential blockbuster trades, including a proposal to send Adams to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for a 2025 first-round pick. Despite having standout receivers like Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, adding Adams could make the Rams’ offense even more formidable, especially as they aim to compete with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC West.

Rams GM Les Snead has a history of trading first-round picks for veteran stars, such as Jalen Ramsey, Matthew Stafford, and Brandin Cooks, moves that contributed to their Super Bowl 56 victory. Therefore, pursuing a trade for Adams would align with the Rams’ strategy.

Despite inconsistent quarterback play last year, Adams recorded 103 receptions for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns. Over his career, he has amassed 872 receptions for 10,781 yards and 95 touchdowns. With Antonio Pierce officially taking over as head coach and Tom Telesco as general manager, the Raiders’ approach to the roster will differ from their predecessors, Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. There’s optimism after Pierce’s strong finish last season, but deciding Adams’ future will be a crucial task. Given the Raiders’ uncertain quarterback situation, Adams could still command a high trade value.

If the Raiders decide to trade Adams, expect multiple contending teams to inquire about the asking price.
