AC Milan came close to securing the services of Antonee Robinson from Wigan Athletic. According to reports, their interest in the defender has persisted even during his time at Fulham.
According to a recent report from GiveMeSport, several teams are eyeing the prospect of signing Antonee Robinson ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The 26-year-old defender has garnered attention due to his impressive performances since joining Fulham.
The report begins by highlighting Chelsea’s serious interest in acquiring Robinson, who has played a significant 94% of available Premier League minutes this season under Marco Silva. This consistent form has also kept Milan loanee Fode Ballo-Toure out of the Fulham side.
Chelsea, in need of a left-back to cover for the frequently injured Ben Chilwell, has been actively scouting Robinson for the past year. The Blues are impressed with the American international and are prepared to make a move in the upcoming transfer window.
Fulham, however, is not under pressure to sell and is reluctant to part ways with Robinson, setting a potential transfer fee of £35 million (€40 million).
In addition to Chelsea, other top-tier clubs like Liverpool and Manchester City have also shown interest in Robinson. Notably, Milan has reignited its interest in the defender, who was on the verge of joining the club in January 2020 before a heart problem was discovered, leading to the cancellation of the move.
The persistent rumors surrounding Theo Hernandez potentially attracting a significant bid from Bayern Munich in the upcoming months have fueled speculation that Milan’s sporting director, Geoffrey Moncada, is exploring potential replacements, with Robinson emerging as a viable candidate.
