The Denver Nuggets have secured Jamal Murray with a four-year, $208 million maximum contract extension, ensuring his continued presence with the team. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks and Adrian Wojnarowski, Murray is guaranteed to receive $244 million over the next five years. His salary will start at $46.4 million in 2025-26 and rise to $57.5 million in 2028-29, the final year of the deal.
Murray, drafted seventh overall by Denver in 2016, has become a key player for the franchise, helping lead them to their first NBA championship in the 2022-23 season. Last season, he averaged 21.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 6.5 assists while shooting 48.1% from the field and 42.5% from beyond the arc in 59 games.
Gilbert Arenas praised the deal, calling it a steal for the Nuggets. He highlighted how, despite Murray’s lack of accolades like All-Star appearances or All-NBA honors, he remains one of the league’s top closers, making the $208 million extension a bargain. Arenas suggested that Murray could have commanded a deal worth $305 to $325 million, emphasizing the value Denver got with this contract.
