Full Update Released: As Wolves ‘enter talks’ to seal Everton target with £58m release clause…

Transfer progress is reportedly being made for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton before the January window.

Wolves are one of four teams to have opened talks to sign Santos wonderkid João Pedro Chermont.

The 18-year-old right-back has been instrumental to Santos since their relegation to the Brazilian second tier, with two goals and three assists in 25 appearances in 2024 so far.

Premier League clubs have been closely monitoring his progress as a result, eager to snap up the next Brazilian wonderkid following several success stories over the years.

CaughtOffside reports Wolves, Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton have all scouted Chermont consistently over recent months. It’s suggested all four teams have opened talks to discuss a potential transfer to England.

Santos are willing to listen to offers for Chermont, it’s claimed, as the eight-time Brasileirão Serie A champions need transfer funds following their drop to Serie B. Chermont, who made his Brazil Under-20 international debut in May, is reported to have a release clause of £58 million.

If Santos are indeed open to a sale, Chermont would presumably be available for far less than that. The only way of finding out the true asking price is for the likes of Wolves to make an official enquiry or offer for the player.

Although Wanderers are stuck in a rut and are unlikely to be as appealing to Chermont as Chelsea or Arsenal, the existing presence of several countrymen could help. Summer signings André and Pedro Lima became the third and fourth Brazilians at the club after João Gomes and Matheus Cunha in transfer windows previous.
