Frattesi offers his forecast for Lamine Yamal before Spain versus Italy.

During a press conference on Monday, Italy and Inter midfielder Davide Frattesi expressed his belief that Barcelona’s young talent Lamine Yamal is destined for greatness in football. The 16-year-old Yamal, who plays for Spain, is the youngest participant at EURO 2024, where his team will face Italy on Thursday in a crucial match.

Frattesi praised Yamal’s outstanding season and described him as a fantastic young player with a strong personality. He emphasized Yamal’s potential to evolve into a top-class player in the future.

Yamal had an impressive season with Barcelona, scoring seven goals and providing 11 assists across 51 appearances in the 2023-24 season. He has already made significant contributions to the Spain national team, scoring two goals in eight appearances and assisting Dani Carvajal in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Croatia last week.

Frattesi also commented on Spain’s evolving style of play, noting that they have become more modern compared to their previous emphasis on prolonged ball possession. He highlighted that Spain lost the ball possession battle for the first time in a decade during their match against Croatia.

Italy started their EURO 2024 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Albania, with goals from Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolò Barella.
