Four Nottingham Forest Players Under Scrutiny Ahead of Key January Window

Nottingham Forest Face Crucial Player Decisions Ahead of Key January Transfer Window

As the key January transfer window approaches, Nottingham Forest faces important decisions on player movements as they look to build on their strong start to the season. Following a successful summer of business, the Reds have made noticeable progress, and with a solid squad already in place, they won’t need to make major changes. However, any adjustments, whether through incomings or outgoings, will be crucial to continuing that momentum.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has expressed satisfaction with his squad, but the January window could still see some changes. Below are a few players whose futures could be decided as the year turns:

Emmanuel Dennis
Excluded from Forest’s 25-man Premier League squad, it seems unlikely that Dennis will have a future at the club. After spending time on loan at Istanbul Basaksehir and Watford, a move in January seems the best solution for both player and club, particularly if an acceptable offer materializes.

Lewis O’Brien
With his loan at LAFC set to end on December 31, O’Brien’s future is up in the air. LAFC has the option to make his move permanent, with talks of a £7 million deal. If that doesn’t happen, O’Brien could have other suitors, including several Championship clubs. A return to Forest seems unlikely, especially with competition in midfield.

Harry Toffolo
Toffolo has struggled for playing time, with his only appearance this season coming in August. As his contract nears its expiration in the summer, Forest must decide whether to sell him in January, let him leave for free, or offer him new terms. Competition for his spot is stiff, with Alex Moreno, Ola Aina, and Neco Williams available for selection.

Willy Boly
Boly, like Toffolo, has just a few months left on his contract, but Forest does have the option to extend it for another year. While Boly’s experience is valuable, he has fallen down the pecking order in central defense. The club will have to decide whether to keep him as a backup option or part ways, particularly if Boly is seeking more playing time.
