Former Texas DT T’Vondre Sweat arrested in Austin

According to the Travis Sheriff’s Office inmate database, former Texas Longhorns defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat was arrested at 2:12 p.m. Central on Sunday for a Class B misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. This information was first reported by KXAN News in Austin. His bond was set at $3,000. He was taken into custody at 13600 IH-35 N.
On Sunday afternoon, Sweat and his attorney left Travis County Jail.

Sweat was seen at McCombs Field on Saturday, where he witnessed No. 4 Texas defeat No. 1 Oklahoma, 2-1. Sweat was one of the most outstanding defensive tackles in the nation in 2023 as a fifth-year senior at Texas.

He started eight of the Longhorns’ fourteen games and set a career high with 45 tackles, 18 solo stops, eight tackles for loss, two sacks, four pass breakups, one blocked kick, and a two-yard touchdown reception against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship game. Sweat won the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman in the country, was selected as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and received unanimous first-team All-American recognition.

Following a strong performance at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis in February, Sweat is slated to go in t as a second-round pick in the most recent ESPN mock draft. Detroit will host the NFL Draft in 2024 from April 25–27.
